POTENZA S005

Compared to some Chinese-brand tyres I had on my first car and the P Zeros on my BMW, I would put these right up there with the P Zeros. In wet conditions, they feel great, and in the dry, the feedback is excellent as long as the tyres are up to temperature. Otherwise, you can get quite a bit of wheelspin, which is something many people seem to report.
Out of the 25,000 km I’ve driven on them, around 19,000 km have been on twisty roads, with the rest on the highway, and I’ve enjoyed every second of it. They do feel a bit harsh on uneven surfaces, but that’s a trade-off I’m happy to make for the level of grip and feedback they provide.
I haven’t noticed anything unusual as the tyres have worn down. Grip still feels largely the same, perhaps just a touch less than when they were new, which is to be expected.
I would definitely buy them again, but I’d also love to try the PS5 or SC7 to see how they compare.

These tires are awful. There's no sense of control, they don't transmit any feedback about the road surface. On dry roads, they lose a lot of grip during acceleration (my car is 150 hp).
In the wet, well, I haven't had any close calls, but given how they feel on dry roads, you're not going to push them in the wet.
The lifespan is very poor; after 12,000 km, the traction drops significantly. I would never buy them again. They're supposed to be high-performance, but they feel like cheap Chinese tires.

These tires seem to have reasonable performance in both the wet and the dry in terms of grip however the feeling of the tires is a little bit numb with not the best feedback. The biggest point to note by far with this product is its road harshness over potholes and broken road surfaces which is simply unacceptable due to its stiff side wall nature. I do not know how this gets to production. The ware seems to be what you would expect for a premium brand tire, but nothing exceptional.

Very prone to tram lining and following undulating roads.

Have a set of Potenza S005 from factory on my Golf GTI MK8. Looking to change these after 37,000 kilometres of a mixture of motorway and city driving. The tyres struggle with grip when not warmed up. The wheels keep spinning even in 3rd gear if you accelerate hard. Launch control on these tyres results in a lot of wheel spin even when the tires are warmed up. Going through corners at speed can be very rewarding though, especially on a twisty country road. Breaking is very confident in pretty much any weather conditions.
