FRIGO HP 2

They were mounted on the car when I bought it (about 2000 km on them according to the owner). I used them from November to April. For the first 3 seasons they worked well especially in deeper or fresh snow and slush (I live in a mountain village where plows arrive less often). On ice at sub-zero temperatures or slippery snow they are also okay for a non-studded tire. On wet roads they behave a bit worse than the average summer tire, especially when the temperature exceeds +5 degrees Celsius. Stronger braking on dry asphalt or high temperatures causes an unexpected, premature loss of traction, and on sharp bends I have the impression that the car is "floating". The tire is soft and focused on comfort so it does not give any sporty experience, the steering is just only correct - not very precise. In the 5th season the winter properties deteriorated even though the tread did not wear out much (I have a comparison because my dad put new ones on in the fall and he is delighted - compared to mine, his car braked, accelerated and turned much better in winter). If the rubber compound had not lost its winter properties, I could have driven 35-40 thousand km on them.

In the ice it's not the best, but in fresh or tapped snow is very good. I don't like the noise and fuel consumption is higher than old Kleber Krisalp HP3

End of life review for my Debica Frigo HP2 tyres to complement my previous review here.
I decided to replace these tyres after 3.5 winter seasons and 26715 driven kilometers. Despite the tyres still having between 6-6.5mm tread left, it feels like the aging process has hardened the rubber and lowered the grip levels somewhat.
As I live in a Baltic state and actually require a Nordic compound tyre, these mostly meant for Central Europe tyres have been really really good. They still feel solid and controlled when driven on snowy or wet roads. Ice grip has fallen off dramatically though. It has become so bad that it is very very difficult taking off at polished traffic light areas. Also, this winter has been very difficult weather wise and currently all our roads look like hockey rinks with fresh loose snow on them. Again, very difficult to find grip on ice with a layer of snow between tyres and the ice.
My decision to replace those tyres does not come from experiencing a dangerous moment or loss of control. Far from it. Car still brakes and steers fine. But I decided that I'd save a lot of fuel and brake pads with less wheelspin.
My new tyres are now Nordic compound Nexen WH43. Will start a review for those after some gathered driving experience.
For the budget wise - I paid 204€ for a set of 4 tyres in October 2019. After driving 26715 kilometers on those tyres the cost per 100km is 0.76€. The tread depth is still at 6+mm, so those tyres would legally be able to reach 50 000km, basically halving the price per 100km. In a less demanding weather conditions they would be very very good tyres for the money.

Not much to say - these are good tyres. Built in Germany.
They do what they need to do. Comfortable, quiet and give decent grip. No issues climbing through snow covered parking lots or taking off at traffic lights. Braking feels confident and I have yet to be caught out by difficult conditions. Grip on pure ice is so-so but still manageable.
They wear well. Just checked the treads and they still seem like brand new. Color coded stripes are still visible and pattern has not lost any sharp edges. I'm sure I can easily use them for 2 more seasons.
Can't really compare the fuel economy since my summer tyres are 225/45/17 and cold winters tend to make engines more thirsty. However I can not see any noticeable fuel consumption difference on longer highway trips.
In the end I am happy with the purchase. Well priced solid tyres that have not let me down yet. I have a direct comparison with Hankook Winter I cept iZ2 (second car, same tyre size) and Frigo HP2 seems like a more solid tyre to me.

Hello. I have these tires since november 2019, and i am writing this review because now is snow in Ro.
They are very good on snow and slop, and good on wet.
You can by it for 50 euro/tire.
Very good choise.
