Technical information
Focus: Standard
The largest and best-selling category, and Michelin CROSSCLIMATE 2 SUV belongs to it. No single property is pushed here at the expense of the others — comfort, grip, noise and tread life keep a sensible balance. For most drivers it is the safest bet: the tyre behaves predictably in the dry and in the wet and covers a decent number of kilometres.

What owners say

I bought Michelin CrossClimate 2 tires in 215/50/R18 (XL) SUV to replace the front Michelin Primacy 3’s which came as OEM fitment in April 2023, in Nov 23 purchased 2 more with the existing fronts going to the back and the new fitted to the front. The rears have now covered over 34,000 miles and the fronts 28,000 miles. The fronts have just gone below 3mm of tread and the rears 4mm.
With regards to noise and comfort, these are the best tyres I have had, dry and wet grip is on a par with any premium summer tyre I have had. The only 2 area’s I can fault are wet breaking, which has left me very closed to the car in front a few times and standing water. This tyre does not like standing water and the car does move around and has been close to aquaplaning.
The tyres have handled some high summer temperatures without a problem and is predictable in the cold.
I have not noticed any change in fuel economy and can still get over 50MPG on a long run.
I do have to drive across some fields and this tyre is great on wet grass, even traveling across the side of a hill, which would have seen the Primacy 3 sliding at the driven wheels. This is just a tyre that can do it all, just leave more room to the car in front in the wet. The price, well, you get what you pay for.

Very good performance especially in the snow. However, longevity is not the best. Previous set did just over 20,000 miles

I am very biased; I started buying Michelin tires in England in 1963 and have never bought a different brand. As soon as I buy a car I put the cross climates on the car. I don't have a problem tire noise. The Cross Climate tire works well on a dry road, I used them in snow in Germany (40 years ago) I live now in NW Florida (rain country) the tire is better than any other tire in the rain. I have not noticed any difference in driving when the tires get older. I used Michelin XAS tires many times.

I'm using Michelin CrossClimate 2 on my VW T-Roc. I'm satisfied with its performance; despite being an all-season tire, the wet grip and road comfort exceeded my expectations, it's a quiet tire. However, cracks appeared on the sidewalls before it even reached a year. This was something I didn't expect from a tire at this age. I contacted Michelin, the process went smoothly, and as a goodwill gesture, they replaced two tires with CrossClimate 3. Of course, having a problem isn't ideal, but it was important for me that the brand took ownership and provided a solution. I installed the new tires on the rear axle to reduce the risk of skidding, even though my car is front-wheel drive. In summary: the product performance is good, I experienced a hiccup in quality control, but the customer service met my expectations.

20,000 miles on a Kia Sportage hybrid in the Pacific Northwest. Most of the miles are long-distance miles over the mountain from Portland to Bend and back with some city driving. Compared to the OEM Bridgestone, these were equally as comfortable summer driving with no noticeable hit to fuel efficiency. Good on the snow and ice— definitely comparable to a winter tire. With AWD and these tires I never was worried getting over mountain. They got through fresh snow storms and PNW gravel slush no problem. The tires don’t like to be pushed particularly in wet conditions. Great tire if you drive the speed limit (or a bit over) but definitely not a hard charger. But if budget and lifestyle forced you to buy a generic crossover SUV like me they’re a pretty good option
