With sport tyres, grip in every situation is what decides — under hard acceleration, under braking, in the dry and in the wet. Yokohama ADVAN SPORT EV V108 belongs to this group. Stability at higher speeds and precision through corners come on top of that. One thing drivers often underestimate when buying: grip comes from a softer compound, and a softer compound wears faster. Where a standard tyre covers roughly 40,000 km, a sport tyre manages about 20,000 to 30,000 km — and considerably less with a sharper driving style or a heavier, more powerful car.

After spending some time with the new Yokohama Advan Sport EV, I’m genuinely impressed with its overall performance.
The first thing I noticed was the remarkable reduction in road noise compared to the Michelin e.Primacy. The cabin feels noticeably quieter, making daily driving much more comfortable and refined.
In terms of grip, the Advan Sport EV is on another level. Steering response is more confident, and the tyre provides excellent feedback through corners. It holds the car securely during spirited driving and remains predictable when pushed, giving the driver plenty of confidence.
Wet weather performance has also been impressive. The tyre maintains strong traction and stability on wet roads, helping the car stay planted even during heavy rain and standing water conditions.
One aspect that surprised me is the wear rate. Despite having a lower treadwear rating on paper, the tyre appears to be wearing very evenly so far, suggesting that longevity may be better than many would expect.
My early verdict:

For EV owners looking for a tyre that combines comfort, confidence, and performance, the Yokohama Advan Sport EV is shaping up to be a very impressive option. It feels like a tyre that truly complements the instant torque and higher weight of modern EVs.
I installed the same tire model and size on both my BMW X3 and a NIO-produced electric vehicle. On dry epoxy flooring and concrete surfaces, these tires frequently experience tire skipping/slipping during foggy conditions or when reversing. I wouldn't have chosen these tires either - I deeply regret purchasing two sets for both my vehicles. They require significantly lower tire pressure to maintain adequate grip, and perform worse than the outdated Eagle F1 SUV tires that came standard on my X3. However, they are exceptionally energy-efficient - my onvo L60 achieves the same energy consumption as a Model Y.
