Auto Bild Sportscars 2025: UHP tire test 245/35 R20 & 295/30 R20
Auto Bild Sportscars magazine tested seven premium and budget high-performance tires in sizes 245/35 R20 (front axle) and 295/30 R20 (rear axle). The test was conducted on the Lotus Emira sports model, which guarantees a realistic assessment of dynamic driving.
The tires were tested in both dry and wet conditions, evaluating braking distance, handling, stability and overall balance of performance. The aim of the test was to find out which UHP sports car tires offer the best compromise between maximum grip, steering precision and safety at the limit.

Test results: Continental wins, Falken falls short of expectations
The overall winner was the Continental SportContact 7, which achieved the highest scores in braking and handling on wet roads and confirmed its position as a performance-balanced sports model.
Second place went to the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S, which excelled in steering precision and excellent dry handling, while still delivering strong performance on wet roads.
Third was the Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport, which offered excellent grip and cornering stability, although it had the highest rolling resistance among the models tested.
In the middle of the field were:
- Falken Azenis RS820, with good results on dry roads but weaker in aquaplaning,
- Nexen N Fera Sport SU2, surprisingly strong in wet tests,
- Vredestein Ultrac Pro, which ranked highest in comfort and low rolling resistance, but lost points in handling.
At the bottom of the results was the Gripmax SuperGrip Pro Sport, which offered a quiet ride and low rolling resistance, but showed dangerously long braking distances and poor grip on wet surfaces.
Summary : This test provides a comprehensive overview of the best UHP summer tires 2025, clearly highlighting the differences between premium models and cheaper alternatives. The Continental SportContact 7 and Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S are among the most reliable choices for sports cars, while some lesser-known brands can be interesting as more affordable alternatives - but often at the cost of performance in critical situations.
