PREMITRA ALL SEASON AP3

<p>Perfectly adequate tyre for general use on rural roads. Poor tread life on the front of a Jeep Cherokee 2.2 diesel. Pretty much done with 8000 miles use. Rears still virtually unworn. Generally good grip, quiet and comfortable. Excellent in standing water but not so good in damp conditions being prone to early understeer.
Tread somewhat susceptible to stone damage on minor roads which places a slight question mark over the durability of the tyre. Will probably buy again, but likely to explore the opposition in the meantime.</p>

Driving Maxxis Premitra All Season AP3 XL in dimension 215/60 R16 99V on 2007 Fiat Scudo Van with 8 seats as Family Car only during holidays and transport tasks. Wight of empty car: 2,0 tons. Driving style: sporty if only me sitting in. Normal with family. Driven distance: around 10.000 km.
Grip over all is good under dry and wet conditions, a bit indirect steering, rest ok. But I have a big problem with tread wear on the side of the tires. They also seam to be too soft in the sidewalls, so the wear is only on the sides. Tire pressure is 0,3 bars over recommented pressure of full car, so this should not be the problem. I do not recomment this tire for heavy cars or sporty driving style, it can't withstand this!
Grip on muddy snow with ice under was really bad, I had to put on snow chains for even smaller hills :(

The tyres came on the car when I got it, with 5mm of tread left. Lasted a whole year (17k km) before I replaced them for the next winter, as we have quite cold and snowy winters here. Used for everyday driving on an AWD Model 3, a mix of motorway and city. I don't have much to compare them to, but they seemed competent enough, especially on dry and wet. They did slide around quite a bit in the snow, but breaking was more or less acceptable. Useless on ice, as most all season tyres are. No real complaints, no excessive noise, no noticeable impact on range, no weird characteristics. If you want to save some cash and have mild winters, these are definitely an option.
I replaced them with brand new Nokian SeasonProof 2 and, no surprise, the Nokians are better in the snow. We'll see how they fare in summer, I may end up switching back to the Maxxis.

Maxxis AP3 XL 235/40 R19 96W all-season tires (ETP00238200 identification number) I bought them 3.5 years ago, after 45,000 km the tread came off. The tire fell apart.

I have bought these tyres to use as a winter tyre and will take them off in March and put them back on in November. I’ve used them to go to Scotland and although I didn’t get any snow on this trip I got very cold wet and icy conditions. In the heavy rain they are brilliant and I didn’t aqua plain once also in damp conditions they have plenty of grip and feed back. On the really cold icy days there was plenty of grip too. I had Michelin Cross Climate 2 on my previous car in the winter and I honestly wouldn’t pay the extra money, if you are just using these as a winter tyre I would definitely recommend these tyres.
