PREMITRA SNOW WP6

Unfortunately, I've had very bad experiences with Maxxis and their tire quality. That's probably the risk you take with "cheap tires" and the (lack of) service when something goes wrong.
I received a tip that these tires for my Model 3 were super quiet, good, and inexpensive. The first set lived up to the promise at a significantly lower cost than the previous brands (although my dealer did say something along the lines of "you get what you pay for").
I immediately bought a second set because I was satisfied. And the nasty surprise - the tires are making a loud humming noise, probably due to inaccuracies in the tread. (I've been to a specialist garage and even the vehicle inspection station - it's the tires.) Maxxis examined the tires and says everything is within tolerance. Conclusion: A new set of tires, ready for the bin.
The money I saved on brand-name tires is gone twice over - and never again Maxxis tires.

The Maxxis WP6 is good enough for normal Dutch winter driving. Straight-line aquaplaning resistance is good and overall grip levels are acceptable.
However, on dry and wet roads the tyres lack feedback when cornering. Steering feel is vague and the car feels slightly floaty, especially in faster bends and motorway exits.
Snow traction is good and steering on snow is acceptable. On icy roads the rear of the car felt unstable, with a subtle side-to-side movement.
Previously driven on Firestone Winterhawk 2, Michelin Alpin A4 and Dunlop Winter Sport 5. Of those, the Dunlop offered the best overall balance and driver confidence.
Overall I’m satisfied, but I would not buy them again. Next time I would try the Kumho WP52 or return to a premium brand.

Good tyres with excellent snow and ice grip

Confidence inspiring tyre. I chose this tire for its exceptional wet handling. Nowadays we didn't see a lot of snow in the winter however (because of high yearly mileage) I didn't want to buy an all season tyre just yet. I made an excellent choice in my opinion for these type of conditions.

I am not driving that spirited, especially on winter tyres - thus take my grip specifics with a grain of salt. In the grip category i don't see reason to complain. Sometimes i am in the mood to take an on-ramp near the limit of grip - behaviour here seems normal to me, the car tends to understeer. The previous winter tyres i bought the car with were 8 year old Marangoni Meteo HP and those sometimes tended to oversteer and had quite bad wet grip, so i replaced them with these.
After one winter season the front tyres are severely more worn than the rears, i dont expect more than two seasons, so ca. 20000km out of these. On the inside of the car the tyre sounds fairly loud with a repeating growling which feels a bit like a outgoing wheelbearing is described. My eagle f1 asymmetric 5 summer tyres are far better in noise and comfort, which is important to me.
The tyres performed very well in the heavy snow we had this year. My car is lowered a bit and even with loose snow around the 10 cm mark i didn't get stuck while having a short donut session in a parking lot. I suspect with the immense wear now on the rear tyres i would have more trouble in a similar situation.
All in all i do not like these tyres a lot but they are not horrible - for my next set of tyres i will try another model in hopes of improving wear and noise.
