ALLSEASONEXPERT 2

<p>As mentioned in some professional tests, the braking performance really wasn't good. I had 10 year old Dunlop Winter Response 2's before, but as I only used them on my car for dry winter driving, I made the switch to all seasons. Needless to say, even the old Dunlop felt more capable when braking hard, so I sold the Uniroyals. It was an experiment to see for myself if the test results can be felt by an average driver or not!</p>

I've been driving on these tires for over 1.5 years now. I have to say that their performance in cold, snowy, and wet conditions is very good and safe. Unfortunately, the tire is really not recommended for summer conditions. The dry braking distance above 20 degrees Celsius is terrible, as are the handling and traction. What surprised me is that the tire felt like a good, fully-fledged winter tire. I got through snow and ice very well with my E39 525i. Tire wear is very good. So, the conclusion: Good winter performance, moderate summer performance.

I have bought my car in 2023 with these tires, DOT 21 I believe. I have drove more than 30k kilometers on them, the wear is excellent - still 4-5mm of tread left.
The grip and handling on dry roads is all-right for an all season tire, also on snow/ice it is sufficient for an experienced driver. But the wet grip is really bad... especially with temperatures below 6 degrees. I often had wheelspin in 3rd gear, in a 170hp RWD car. This would be normal if the car would have twice the power. Also a lot of understeering. You have to be very conservative with driving on the wet with these tires.

Living in a country where it rains a lot, wet grip is very decent! Never had an issue nor any concerns. Highway driving in heavy and very heavy rain is also a breeze and leaves me no concerns. Had passed a few “puddles” with highway speed and it fared very well with resisting to the aquaplaning.

These tyres are outstanding in the wet, very good aquaplaning resistance, and a very confident ride feeling even at high speeds in the wet. The winter performance on fresh snow is good, on slush it is far better than its higher priced sibling from the same business group (the Continental AllSeasonContact). On dry surfaces they feel rather soft, however this doesn't deteriorate further at very high sumer temperatures. Dry braking isn't their strength, and also the handling feels a bit spongy (but a good match to my car's a bit nervous steering, which the tyres calm down a bit). Their biggest minus is that they are very prone to get flat spots even after parking only for a few hours, and it takes some while (10-15 km of quick driving) that they smoothen out again. This is particularly happening at temperatures below 10 °C, less in summer. A car problem can be ruled out, as this doesn't happen with a second set of tyres which was mounted temporarily for testing purposes.
To summarize: outstanding in the wet, fully sufficient under winter conditions, and acceptable for the calm driver in the hot/dry. Wear is very low.
Would buy them again if they hadn't this annoying flat spot issue.
