CROSSCLIMATE 2

<p>Had these fitted 3 years ago and since then done roughly 5500 miles. Not a lot of mileage, but then that's because of my circumstances. (I'm retired and don't do the 1200 mile round trips to and from the continent, 6 times a year. Michelin have been my go to car tyre, since I first had the MXL and MXT on my Volvo.)
The wear has been negligible, gone from 7 mm new to about 6.5 mm today.
Haven't had any snow to speak of here in the UK, but a bit icy one or two days.
Last Christmas went to stay up country, mostly motorway, a trip of 130 miles or so. Not far but the rain was horrendous, it didn't stop at all, roads were flooded and the spray evil. We returned two days later and got similar weather, torrential rain all the way back.
The tyres were great, never thought for one moment that I would loose control. They're quieter than the previous Turanza, which I never thought were safe when cornering, especially in the wet.</p>

<p>Grippy tires compared to the OEM Continental ProContact Rx, it feels a bit more softer than the oem tires on turns, it leans into the turns softer while the ProContact Rx felt more sharper and planted in turns. I don't feel completely comfortable driving in the rain with the CrossClimate2, they evacuate water good in a straight line and I can drive fast confidently without worry of hydroplane, however, braking and turning gives me anxiety in the wet. Winter weather is phenomenal, you can easily save yourself during a slide downhill. Will plow through snow 6 inches deep. Will easily accelerate at a green light with ease during a snow storm without sliding. I do not notice any noise difference. Occasional hum when you first get the tires. Decrease of 5% in range due to tread pattern and choice of wider wheel set. 275/40/19 wider tire size has prevented curb rash when parking.</p>

<p>Compared to Continentals which I had in Passat and T6.1. they wear much faster, but probably this is due to the Tesla weight and power.</p>

<p>I've been using Crossclimate 2 tires on my 2019 Nissan Leaf SL Plus for the last couple of years. It's the car my daughter was driving and she would constantly complain about wheel slip on wet roads. I really only drove the car in the afternoons when the roads had dried and I saw no issue with the tires, they're great on dry roads. (This car was left parked in bad snowy weather, so I don't really have an ice/snow impression.)</p><p>That daughter is off to college now, so I've been driving this car some mornings and I feel very bad about ignoring her complaints. On something as simple as a steep road, you can feel the car's traction control trying to stop the wheels from spinning. Any sort of wet road driving, even something as simple as driving out of a carwash, it a dicey proposition. It seems though that it's an issue of the tires not being able to stand up to the torque coming from the electric motor and goes to just two tires, braking doesn't seem that bad, but all four wheels are slowing the car then.</p><p>Given that Seattle is heading into wet weather, I'm getting rid of these tires now even though they probably could last another 20,000 miles.</p>

<p>Very pleased with these tires under all conditions, but especially snow traction and braking. I expected improved acceleration, but was pleasantly surprised by the improvement in snow braking. Haven't noticed any problems with wet traction, despite the wet test results. Slightly noisy in certain speed ranges, but quietness is good overall.</p>
